Heyward still took a gleeful victory lap, making sure the guys in gold jerseys knew they had done their jobs.
Critics insist the Patriots' legacy will be forever tarnished no matter the outcome on Feb. 1. But faithful fans like Luis Mariano aren't buying that.
Cleveland hasn't had much go right recently, losers of five of the past six, with a banged-up quarterback Josh McCown out 锟?Johnny Manziel will start 锟?and two key defensive backs, Joe Haden and Donte Whitner, having been concussed. The Browns might be short-handed at wide receiver, too.
That has raised concerns inside and outside the team facility as the Sept. 13 opener with Buffalo nears.
